BANT CPD Committee

ROLE OF THE CPD COMMITTEE

To use best endeavours to provide members with a choice of conferences, courses and workshops that qualify for BANT CPD hours, meet NTC core curriculum, and fulfil part of the CPD requirement for attendance at external formal events.

ROLE OF THE CHAIR OF THE CPD COMMITTEE

Oversees and co-oridinates the goals of the committee

Holds position for the minimum of 1 year and maximum of 3 years

Keeps an up to date contact list and send a copy to the administrator

Finds and trains a replacement before standing down

Arranges meetings 4-6 times per year

Arranges for minutes to be taken at each meeting

Holds a register for meeting attendance of committee members

Is the main point of contact for the committee

Presents a summary of the year's activities at the AGM

Sends a committee member to present an interim report at BANT council meetings

Updates and adds to the policies and documents that form the duties and goals of the committee

Monitors support provided by the committee members and reports to council at the end of September each year

Submits a register of attendance and hard copy of all the minutes of meetings that took place throughout the year to the administrator, at the end of September each year

COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

1 voluntary Chair or 2 joint Chairs selected from BANT Membership or Council, reselected after 1-3 years

6 voluntary BANT Members reselected after 1-3 years

The Chair is selected from the committee members, approved by the BANT Council and reports to the Council on all matters regarding the CPD Committee

COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND RECORDS

The Committee meets quarterly with a quorum consisting of the Chair plus 4 committee members

The Committee keeps confidential written records of all discussions, meetings, and decisions

  • Graduated from ION in 2005
  • Currently works in two clinics and lectures at ION
  • Has an advisory role with a test company
  • Previous career was as a research scientist at the University of Nottingham and IFR in Norwich
Heather Lee
Maggie Thorpe Dip NT (Raworth and CNELM)
Shared Chair of CPD Committee
  • Graduated in 2002 from Raworth College of Nutrition, Natural and Sports Therapies and the Centre for Nutrition Education (CNELM)
  • Also qualified in Reflexology and Iridology and runs natural healthcare practice from clinic in West Sussex
  • Lecturer and clinic tutor at Raworth College, clinic tutor at University of Westminster and sessional teacher for West Sussex adult education
  • Previous career as business and systems analyst in corporate IT
Maggie Thorpe
Lindsay Kubicki DN, BSc NM
  • Previous career in conferences and seminars for commercial organisations and professional bodies
  • Trained at Plaskett Nutritional Medicine College and Thames Valley University Graduated in 2007
  • Practises NT in Peterborough and Stamford
  • Has a special interest in preventive nutrition from paediatrics to geriatrics
  • Supports breastfeeding mums in an area of social deprivation

  • 1st year student at CNELM
  • BACR Phase IV Exercise Instructor
  • Run specialised exercise classes for post op heart patients
  • Weekly lunchtime fitness classes for disabled children
  • Ran my own business called "Creche 'n' Burn". Fitness classes with creche attached for local mum's
  • Diploma in Nutritional therapy with Premier Training International, graduated in 2008
  • Previous career in Airline industry
  • Many qualifications within fitness industry also trained with YMCA
  • A member of the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners

  • In the process of starting up a Clinical Practice
  • Previous career was in the hairdressing industry, including running my own salon for 15 years

  • Practises nutritional therapy in Nottingham
  • Has a special interest in mental health and involved in the local community giving talks and running workshops
  • Creative in adapting recipes for specific health and social needs
  • Previous career as a senior scientist in academia and corporate business
Inder Gill
Elena Yates BA, BSc NM
  • Recently graduated from TVU
  • Practises Nutritional Therapy in Bristol and Somerset
  • Elena is also a reflexologist and licensed Medical NLP Health Practitioner
  • Has special interests in childhood nutrition, hormonal imbalances, stress management and sport nutrition
  • Previous career as brand manager in pharmaceutical industry in Moscow, Russia
