Professional Practice Committee

ROLE OF THE PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE COMMITTEE

Determines whether formal complaints against BANT Members are justified and identifies appropriate action where any complaint is upheld

Responds to queries and concerns from Members regarding aspects of working practice that relate to the Code of Professional Practice Handbook

Independently protects the public and supports Members

Regularly revises the Code of Professional Practice Handbook to take account of issues such as: changes in laws, working practices, member and client experiences, complaints and queries received etc

Takes a proactive role maintaining the ethical standards ensuring they are relevant and leading-edge

Totally reviews the Code of Professional Practice Handbook every three years

COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

Eight voluntary BANT Members reselected after 1-3 years

One member is a Student member of BANT and one is non-BANT Lay Member

Chairman is selected from the committee members, approved by the BANT Council and reports to the Council on all matters regarding professional practice

COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND RECORDS

The Committee meets quarterly with a quorum consisting of the Chair plus 4 committee members

The Committee keeps confidential written records of all discussions, meetings, and decisions. A summary of complaints and queries received is provided at the AGM

  • Graduated from Thames Valley University in 2009 with a BSc in Nutritional Medicine
  • Practises as a Nutritional Therapist in Ealing, West London
  • 20 year's experience as a copywriter, now specialising in writing copy for companies in the nutritional/healthcare market and assisting with compliance with European Commission permitted claims guidelines
  • Member of the Advertising Rules Committee

  • NHS career as nurse, health visitor and manager
  • Honours graduate in Nutritional Therapy from The Centre for Nutrition Education in 2004
  • NLP master practitioner
  • Part-time NT practice in Oxfordshire
  • Part time tutor and lecturer at CNELM

  • Trained at Raworth International 1994/5
  • Previously restauranteur/bookkeeper
  • Lectures in nutrition and clinical practice at private and public colleges
  • Private practice in Nutrition, Iridology and Reflexology

  • Worked for 20 years in retail (wholefood shops)
  • Initially trained as Nutritional Therapist at Raworth College, Dorking
  • Also studied at ION
  • Completed an MSc in Nutrition at Kings College, London
  • Has part-time private nutritional therapy practice

Dip ION, PhD Physiology, mBANT, NTCC and CNHC Registered
  • PhD in Physiology, University of Leeds
  • Worked in the pharmaceutical industry for six years (drug safety and market research)
  • Worked for a law firm specializing in product liability litigation for two years
  • Graduated from ION in 2004
  • Runs part-time nutritional therapy practice in Greater Manchester
  • Delivers seminars and workshops on healthy eating and weight loss
